Fatal truck accident leaves 2 children dead in West Virginia

Truck accidents can be deadly and may leave families looking for resources to punish wrongdoers and compensate them for the loss.

Two children were left dead in another West Virginia county after a water tanker truck overturned and collided with the car they were traveling in. The truck accident also sent the mother of the two children to the hospital, as well as the driver of the truck. The two children were dead at the scene. The driver of the truck stated that his brakes did not function properly when the accident occurred. Although authorities reported that a preliminary investigation did not show that the breaks were an issue, the investigation into the accident continues.

Semi trucks present an unusual danger on the roadway because of the size disparity between them and most passenger vehicles. When semi trucks are involved in a truck accident with a passenger vehicle, serious injuries and death sometimes result. Although truck drivers are commonly good drivers, inherent in the size and weight of the trucks, and even in the trucking company business in some cases, are dangers that can lead to traffic and truck accidents. These can include an unqualified truck driver, an inattentive truck driver, a drunk truck driver or a truck driver that is speeding or experiencing truck driver fatigue.

Additionally, negligence related to problems with the truck can also sometimes lead to an 18-wheeler accident such as in the case of negligent truck maintenance or defective auto parts, like brakes. In these situations, injured victims and families of victims can oftentimes claim damages for the injuries and losses in a negligence suit against the driver, trucking company and possibly others.

Because the results of truck accidents can be tragic, the legal process offers help and aid to families who find themselves in that situation. Truck accident victims have options to consider when harmed.
