Motorcycle crash leaves one dead and one injured

With its scenic hillsides and winding roads, West Virginia is ideal for motorcycle travel. Unfortunately, motorcycle accidents can have especially devastating consequences, which is why the legal process seeks to protect victims and families from further harm.

In neighboring Virginia, a recent motorcycle accident claimed the life of one person and injured another. The motorcycle collision occurred when a car struck the motorcycle. The motorcycle's female passenger was thrown from the bike and killed. Police reported that the driver of the motorcycle had to be taken to the hospital for treatment and care of serious injuries.

Motorcycle accidents can be extremely dangerous. Both riders and passengers can suffer injury and even death. While obviously nothing compares to the trauma of the injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident, or the unexpected loss of a loved one in a fatal motorcycle accident, the physical and emotional recovery period can also be unquestionably difficult.

Some motorcycle accident victims may experience permanent disability, lost wages or lost future earning capacity. Surviving family members may discover a loss of support or services following the death of a loved one that was a primary caretaker or breadwinner in the home. Both victims and families of victims will likely face some type of medical expenses and bills. A negligent driver can be required to compensate a victim, and the families of victims, following the making of a claim. Victims may wish to bring a personal injury claim for recovery of damages; families of victims, similarly, may wish to bring a wrongful death claim for the loss of a loved one in a fatal motorcycle crash.

Motorcycle accidents, and the loss of a loved one, can bring immense suffering. Fortunately, the legal system offers help to victims, and families of victims, facing the challenges that follow a horrible crash.
