ATV riders should heed safety tips and understand legal remedies


It is now the season for hunters to be out hunting in West Virginia. West Virginia University's Extension Service is encouraging hunters who use ATV vehicles to do so safely. Education and training is being offered in cooperation with the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles and the American Safety Institute. Approximately 40 West Virginians die each year in ATV-related accidents which, according to one expert, is a statistic that is slow to decline.

Cabell area car accident sends three to the hospital

A recent Cabell area head-on collision sent three people to the hospital. Sissonville Drive at Guthrie Road had to be closed to clear the accident that involved a passenger vehicle and a SUV. A West Virginia Department of Agriculture SUV collided with the passenger vehicle when, police say, according to witnesses, the passenger vehicle crossed over the center line of the roadway. The driver of the SUV and two older women were transported to local hospitals following the accident.

West Virginia truck accident sends several to hospital


Less than two hours away in West Virginia, a recent collision with a coal truck left several people injured. At least two people were injured, although the extent of the injuries was not immediately known, following the collision of a car and a coal truck. Ambulance and other emergency crews responded to the accident and transported victims to the hospital.
