Three injured in recreational vehicle accident

A recent accident in West Virginia left three people injured, two of whom had to be air lifted to the hospital. The crash occurred when a pickup truck slammed into a UTV. Initial reports indicate the UTV either entered the roadway in front of the truck or crossed the center line and into the truck's lane, causing an accident when the truck could not avoid the collision. The driver and passenger of the UTV were flown to the hospital while the truck driver suffered minor injuries. Though initial reports seem to indicate the driver of the UTV was at fault in this case, the wreck remains under investigation.

Recovery from an accident injury can be painful, expensive and time-consuming. A victim might suffer broken bones or a head or a neck injury that leads to temporary or permanent disability and life-long pain. Caring for these injuries can be costly, especially if long-term care is needed. It may become difficult for an accident victim to pay for this care when he or she is unable to work and earn a wage. This is typically why a personal injury lawsuit is filed against the driver who caused the accident.

Winning a lawsuit is dependent upon showing negligence and causation. Negligence can be established by putting forth evidence suggesting the driver was inattentive, reckless, intoxicated, tired, or he or she broke traffic laws. If any of these acts caused the victim's injuries, then compensation may be awarded to help the victim pay for the medical care he or she needs and to help him or her recoup lost wages. Money may also be awarded to help ease pain and suffering.

A driver in the recreational vehicle accident discussed above may be subject to a personal injury lawsuit. However, which driver is at fault is still to be determined, as these cases are often complicated and require a thorough investigation to discover the truth. A West Virginia attorney can help crash victims assess their case, determine if a lawsuit is in their best interests, and, if so, fight for the compensation they deserve.
