Truck accident caused by defective truck parts

Negligent maintenance, as well as defective truck parts, can lead to catastrophic truck accidents for residents of Barboursville and across the region.

Recently, in a neighboring state, a tractor trailer with faulty brakes caused an accident that killed two people. While rounding a curve, the tractor trailer overturned and crushed the pickup truck the two victims were traveling in. Police reported that defective truck parts, in this case faulty brakes, may be to blame in the fatal truck accident. Only three of its 10 brakes were functioning and three others were out of adjustment. The driver has been charged with two counts of negligent homicide and one count of speeding. The driver did not keep a trucking log, and his co-driver's trucking log had signs of false entries.

Both defective auto parts, as well as negligent truck maintenance, can pose problems on the road, which may be to blame in this case. Negligent maintenance and faulty parts can lead to devastating semi-truck accidents. The trucking company may be held liable for an employee who is acting within the scope of employment. When a negligent trucker negligently injures another motorist, the injured party or the family may be eligible for a wrongful death claim.

Because truck accidents usually carry catastrophic consequences, options are available for those injured to receive compensation for serious injuries and even death. These options may include personal injury damages and other expenses related to the death. Although no amount of compensation can replace a loved one, those injured may find some comfort in being aware of these options.
