Multi-vehicle collision caused by semi kills two and injures one

Legal resources exist to help all types of truck accident victims in West Virginia with the damages suffered as a result of the semi-truck accident.

A semi-truck accident in a neighboring state recently left two people dead. The multi-vehicle accident was the result of the semi truck's failure to stop in a construction zone. The semi-truck failed to stop and struck a car and another tractor trailer which then struck yet another tractor trailer which slammed into three more vehicles. The seven-vehicle accident left two people dead and what was described as a "line of flames." A woman in the first car that was hit also had to be taken to the hospital with injuries that were considered non-life threatening.

Truck accidents are often considered particularly serious. Because of their large size, trucks involved in truck accidents are able to cause significant accidents that can result in serious injuries and death. Negligent truck drivers, such as an inattentive truck driver, a truck driver experiencing truck driver fatigue, a drunk truck driver or a truck driver that is speeding, can be liable to victims and families of victims. Depending on the circumstances of the semi-truck accident, in certain situations, a truck company may also be liable to victims and their families.

Just as injured victims are able to bring personal injury claims for damages suffered in a truck accident, including medical expenses and lost wages, families of lost loved ones can also bring a wrongful death claim for damages that resulted from the collision. Family members may be able to recover medical and funeral expenses, as well as other types of damages depending on the circumstances.

While family members may feel, understandably, that they will never recover from the harm of a semi-truck accident that claimed the life of a loved one, a recovery of damages may be able to aid with the practical types of harm and expenses stemming from the accident. A personal injury attorney can help families evaluate the damages the family has suffered and with the process of bringing a claim for those damages.
