West Virginia head-on car collision results in injuries

Car accident injuries can sometimes have a lasting impact which is why the legal process seeks to protect victims of car accidents.

A head-on collision in a county near Cabell recently required that a woman be extracted from her vehicle by firefighters using the jaws of life. The woman was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The car accident forced authorities and emergency responders to close the roadway while the two-vehicle accident was cleared. Authorities reported that roadways were slick in the area at the time of the accident and police noted that the accident investigation continues.

Car accidents can take place unexpectedly and create a significant disruption in the lives of injured victims. A car collision can result in a variety of serious injuries to victims. Victims can suffer injuries ranging from broken bones to a brain injury which may all have a significant impact on the life an injured victim. Victims may suffer consequences of a car accident for years to come.

Because of this, victims may be able to bring a claim for damages against a negligent driver if the negligent driver was responsible for causing the accident. Liability is based on a driver's failure to exercise the appropriate amount of care to ensure the safety of others, such as a failure to properly adjust to a change in weather or roadway conditions. If the negligent driver is liable for the injuries the victim has suffered, the victim may be able to recover compensation for medical expenses and pain and suffering damages, among other types of damages depending on the circumstances.

Through the process of bringing a claim for damages following a car collision, the injured victim's damages can be evaluated and better understood. A trained personal injury attorney can listen to the victim and help guide the victim through the process of making a claim.
