ATV accident leaves two dead in West Virginia

In West Virginia, there is one outdoor pastime that many people enjoy: riding All-Terrain Vehicles. ATVs are quite popular within the state, not only for West Virginia residents who enjoy riding, but the state actually draws in riders from all over the country.

Unfortunately, as with all recreational vehicles, there is a certain amount of risk associated with riding ATVs. Just recently, two people were killed in an ATV accident in Mingo County. According to the accident report, four individuals were riding the vehicle at the time of the crash in Matewan, West Virginia. A man and a woman were killed, while two other men were injured and transported to a local hospital. The crash occurred during late night hours on a Friday.

Authorities are currently investigating the accident. There was no immediate mention of charges being filed against anyone involved.

A number of factors can contribute to an ATV accident or rollover. Drivers and passengers can act negligently or recklessly in causing an accident. Vehicle manufacture or product defects can also play a role in contributing to a crash. Regardless of the cause, it is important to follow up on legal options after such an accident to determine liability. Many times there may even be multiple parties who share liability. The right legal approach can help gather evidence against each of the responsible parties. A determination of liability will give accident victims or their families an opportunity to obtain compensation. Compensation and damages can cover anything from medical bills to lost wages and even pain and suffering.
